NYC!

Years ago, my mother announced that for her upcoming Milestone Birthday, she wanted to go to New York City with me and my sister. The idea sat on the backburner until a few months ago, when we realized that said Milestone Birthday was just around the corner. So we grabbed some flights from Porter, booked an apartment through airbnb.com, and headed down there on June 7 to celebrate! Other than booking the flight and accomodations, we didn’t book anything else. We had plans and ideas of what we wanted to do and between the 3 of us, we were able to fill the days with all kinds of amazing activities!

So we did what any good tourists to NYC do. We ate and we walked. Then we ate some more and walked some more… That pretty much sums up our trip. Eating and walking.

I could write tons, or I could just post a bunch of the pictures from the weekend.

We arrived in a tropical storm.

My mother, Judy, and sister, Tina. We arrived in a tropical storm.

But we didn't let a little rain stop us from enjoying the city.

And we got wet. VERY wet!

But in the morning, we woke up to blue skies.

Honestly, art is EVERYWHERE (even in the subway station for the Museum of Natural History.)

We ate delicious food (the Wall of Cheese in Eataly).

LOTS of delicious food (a super tasty blueberry and peach popsicle from a food vendor at Smorgasburg, a "food flea market").

We hung out in nature along the Highline trail.

We got fashionable hats to make us look all the more fabulous, and had a FANTASTIC time!

We had 1 celebrity sighting and it was a GOOD one! While dining in Pain Quotidien, we realized that Sir Paul McCartney was sitting at the other side of the (small) room. My mother and sister had completely clear views of him and this made my mother’s trip! And he even waved to her! She reminisced about seeing him and the Beatles live on the Ed Sullivan Show when they first came to North America. Alas, we decided to play it cool and not take any photos of that experience and are just going to keep it in our memories.
